Hello Cadets Families,

Here are the weekly announcements...

Change of Command & Year End BBQ - Thurs June 13th

Please come in Full Dress and bring civies to change into afterwards for the BBQ portion of the evening. We will start with level awards and Change of Command with the BBQ starting right afterwards. Families are encouraged to come. The SSC will provide the hotdogs, hamburgers and drinks. All cadets are asked to bring either a salad or dessert.

Victoria Trip Cancelled

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. We will plan the same trip for early next year.

Cultus Lake Waterslides - Sat June 22nd

Come out for a day of waterslides, BBQ and fun! Admission will be paid by the money the cadets have earned over the year through canteen sales with any remaining balance covered by the SSC. Parents will be required to pick up and drop off their cadets and are encouraged to join us. Carpooling is also encouraged. More details to follow.

Uniform Night – Friday May 24^th

Time: 6 to 8pm

Please bring the following items:

• Uniform on hanger
• Irons (especially irons)
• Ironing boards.
  Boots
• Kiwi polish
• Kiwi polishing cloth

Missing Brass Buckles

Five brass buckles are missing or unaccounted for from supply, possibly attached to white belts. If you have one please notify Supply Officer Vi Li.

Hello Cadet families!

These are this week's announcements:

1. 583 SQUADRON UNIFORM NIGHT & WORKSHOPS

ALL LEVELS - MANDATORY - ATTENDANCE WILL BE TAKEN
Tues. May 14, 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Wear civilian clothing ("civvies"). As part of your kit, you must bring:
- your boots
- regular black Kiwi polish (not Kiwi Parade Gloss) and Kiwi cloth. You'll find Kiwi products at London Drugs (aisle 2), Walmart or Shoppers Drug Mart.
- a sewing kit with black and/or navy blue thread, for badge placement
- your tie
- your uniform on a hanger
- iron and ironing board
- snacks
- your enthusiasm!

2.STATIC DISPLAYS Due May 16. Hard Copy.

3. RANGE Sunday, May 19. 11:30 am to 4:00 pm. Officer in charge: Lt. Greeley.

4. ACR (ANNUAL CEREMONIAL REVIEW) . Saturday, May 25. Only two weeks away! We need parent volunteers in order to make this event happen. Please sign up this week. Sign up sheet on glass notice board in the hallway.

5. VICTORIA TRIP. Saturday, June 15. Spend the entire day visiting 443 Squadron and BC Aviation museum. Lunch at Victoria Flying Club included in price. Approximate cost $40 pp. (The SSC is subsidising half of the cost, actual cost is $80 pp). More details to follow.

Thank you to the cadets, staff, SSC and parents who volunteered this past

weekend to make the Lower Mainland First Aid Competition a success.

Congratulations to our junior and senior teams for a job well done!

A special congratulation goes out to W02 Post and LAC Metcalf for being

awarded best team Captains for both our junior and senior teams.

Range - Sunday April 28th 12:30 to 3pm. Senior staff required. Sign up required for levels 1& 2 only who have completed Range Safety Training. If you have any questions please speak with Lt. Greeley.

Come out and support your 583 senior & junior First Aid Teams. The competition is being held at Thomas Haney Secondary with the practical portion of the competition beginning between 8 & 9am. Thank you to all of those who have volunteered to help out. We couldn't do it with out you. Good luck senior & junior competitors!

Last Call for the Fraser River Explorer

Don't miss this fun and exciting opportunity. On May 4th and 5th a group of Cadets form 5 squadrons (and parents) will be exploring the wonders of the Fraser River by very large voyager canoes from the drop in point east of Mission travelling down the amazing Fraser River and pulling out near Vancouver BC. The cost of the trip is $109 per cadet and $159 per parent. If you have already submitted your payment please inform Capt. Baldwin. Past Events

583 Squadron Effective Speaking Competition

This past Tuesday 583 Squadron had its first Effective Speaking Competition. Sgt Metzner and LAC Metzner competed with Sgt Metzner placing first and LAC Metzner placing second. Congratulations to both and kudos to LAC Metzner for doing her speech in French. Both cadets will go on to compete at the Wing Competition Next Saturday April 13th in Chilliwack. Please come out to show your support.

Gliding April 1st

Thank you very much to the parents/guardians who drove the cadets for this event. These activities are a success because of your commitment to the cadets.

Tag Days March 1st, 2nd & 3rd

Thank you to the cadets who participated even though the weather wasn't perfect. We raised $2736.69. This money goes directly back to the cadets to cover expenses such as fun activities. Great job!

Pub Night Saturday March 9th
